Ireland 2018 | Belfast City
Rapid7 had our 2018 bi-annual kickoff at Belfast, Ireland called Spark. I was aware of this trip since last year and I was super stoked for it. The kickoff was a time for our team to gather in one place to discuss and collaborate future plans for our business. I didn't know that our products team was about 500 people. It was a great time for me to get to know our team out in Belfast (and other places in the US) and finally put faces to names that I've worked with thus far. Throughout the trip, I realized more and more that I am so blessed to be part of this company. On our first day, we split into teams to collaborate and work on various projects/discussions. Our team won first place for a specific topic and we were awarded a sack of four Irish beers. Score!
We rented out the Waterfront Conference Center to hold our 3-day conference. To be honest, I didn't expect much for this trip, but little did I know, Rapid7 definitely went above and beyond for this event.
Aside from the conference, I took time to venture Belfast. The great thing about this city is that everything is in walking capacity. The city itself is super compact and was super easy to get around on foot.
We stayed at the Hotel Europa. This hotel is also known as the "most bombed" hotel in Ireland. What a great place to stay during our trip...haha. Europa was actually a very comfortable stay. It's located in the City Centre and was in the perfect location to walk around the city.
One of the things I loved about Belfast was the alleyways. The city is super historical and I loved the rustic vibe it gave out.
The city itself was freakin beautiful. The city hall was right in the center of the city and walking past it every day was amazing. This was my first trip to Europe and it was definitely worth it.
